The Old Bodegas Marques del Merito S.A., located in Jerez de la Frontera, was the name and legal form given during the middle of the twentieth century to the company founded by José María López de Carrizosa and Garvey, II Marqués del Merito. The winery activity continued in the building until the end of the last century. At this moment its spaces are divided to accommodate different applications.

At this moment, the part of the building used as a health center is empty and it has no use. It consists of a majestic building area which connects with one of the naves of the winery. The structure of the building and the functional program lead us to develop a meticulous remodeling.

The main building area has two floors and it is developed around two different sizes patios and the winery nave. It has a structure of free-standing and spacious pillars. It offers an open area whose section becomes the subject of the proposal.

We propose a core of communication which develops between both buildings, as a clamp that weaves together the flights of the stairs between the nave and the main building. As a result we have a natural connection that allows us to open a second access from the inside lane between both naves of the winery.

The waiting areas are spread around the main patio and around the center of the nave. This establishes a level of scale and abstraction which are necessary to solve and adapt the health treatment to the existing building.
